Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is prioritizing advanced defense and cybersecurity systems in building its future capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, alongside physical infrastructure projects to ensure resilience against conventional and digital threats. “Nusantara will emerge as a source of pride for us all with quite a vast area. As the seat of government, this city will be supported by advanced defense and security systems, in line with national interests,” Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago said on Tuesday (March 3) during a site visit. The minister reviewed key facilities including the State Mosque, ministerial complex, and coordinating ministry offices, stressing that civil servants could soon begin relocating thanks to adequate housing, hospitals, schools, markets, and airstrips. “This city already has a complete set of essential facilities,” he added. Chaniago underlined the importance of synergy among ministries and agencies to build a safe, stable environment in Nusantara and across East Kalimantan. He affirmed the government’s commitment to “safe, effective, and sustainable governance” in the new capital, while expressing confidence in IKN Authority Head Basuki Hadimuljono to lead successful development.
