Compliance Checklist

  • Review and update security protocols at all operational sites located in airports, seaports, PLN facilities, and transport hubs to comply with TNI Alert 1 patrol and access requirements
  • Appoint a local compliance liaison officer and register with the relevant provincial TNI Command within 48 hours of Alert 1 activation
  • Revise your Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to include scenarios such as transport checkpoints, personnel access delays, and temporary facility lockdowns under Alert 1

English Summary

Indonesia's Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has activated 'Alert 1' (Siaga 1) status per Telegram TR/283/2026, effective immediately, to counter potential spillover from Middle East tensions. This is a national security readiness measure—not a licensing or regulatory change—but triggers heightened operational protocols affecting foreign businesses. Key implications: (1) All strategic and economic infrastructure—including airports, seaports, PLN facilities, and transport hubs—are under intensified military patrols and equipment readiness checks; (2) Foreign-operated logistics, energy, telecom, and transport entities may face enhanced access controls, personnel vetting, and on-site inspections; (3) Companies must coordinate closely with local partners and update business continuity plans to align with TNI-led security coordination frameworks overseen by DPR Commission I and the Ministry of Defense. No formal application or license is required, but non-compliance with on-site security directives may result in operational delays or access restrictions. Foreign investors should review facility security protocols and designate liaison officers for real-time coordination with TNI regional commands.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A senior Indonesian lawmaker said the military’s decision to raise its alert status to “Siaga 1” or “Alert 1” reflects strong commitment to safeguarding national security amid rising global tensions, particularly in the Middle East. Dave Laksono, deputy chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR), said the measure demonstrates the Indonesian military’s readiness to respond to evolving international dynamics and ensure domestic stability. “The DPR’s Commission I sees this policy as part of a strategy to strengthen national resilience,” Laksono said in a statement on Sunday. He said heightened vigilance is necessary given the current global situation, including escalating tensions in the Middle East, which could have broader implications for regional and global security. According to Laksono, the military’s decision also reassures the public that the government and defense institutions are actively carrying out their responsibilities to protect the country. He emphasized the importance of close coordination between the Indonesian Military (TNI), the Ministry of Defense and Commission I of the DPR, which oversees defense, foreign affairs and communications. Such cooperation, he said, helps ensure that every policy and operational decision remains aligned with the national interest while maintaining transparency and public accountability. Laksono added that strong coordination among state institutions is essential to maintaining public confidence during periods of global uncertainty. He also praised the increased military readiness as a sign that Indonesia remains committed to preserving internal stability while responding cautiously to global developments. With effective coordination and preparedness, he said the country will remain secure and capable of responding to potential challenges. “We are confident that Indonesia can face global dynamics with its head held high, maintain national stability and strengthen public trust in state institutions,” Laksono said.
