  • Align all outbound marketing materials for Bali with the Ministry of Tourism’s current 'safe and stable' destination messaging—review by February 2026
  • Submit monthly verified occupancy reports to the Ministry of Tourism’s designated portal if operating in Badung or Gianyar districts
  • Verify NIB license scope with BKPM for any expanded digital distribution channels, especially cross-border OTA partnerships

English Summary

Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism confirms Bali’s tourism sector remains stable despite global geopolitical tensions, with no new regulatory restrictions imposed. As of January 4, 2026, hotel occupancy in Badung and Gianyar districts shows sustained demand—majority reporting 41–80% occupancy. Foreign tourism businesses (hotels, travel agencies, OTAs) must: (1) monitor official updates from the Ministry of Tourism and BKPM for policy shifts; (2) align marketing campaigns with Indonesia’s official destination branding; and (3) maintain accurate, real-time occupancy data for potential government coordination requests. While no deadlines or penalties are specified, proactive engagement with local industry associations and compliance with standard Indonesian business licensing (e.g., SIUP, NIB via OSS system) remains mandatory. This stability supports continued foreign investment in Bali’s hospitality sector—but requires ongoing risk communication transparency to international travelers.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s tourism ministry says Bali’s tourism sector has remained stable in recent weeks, despite global geopolitical tensions including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. “We are monitoring the global situation very closely. However, field data shows that Bali’s tourism performance over the last few weeks remains stable, with hotel occupancy rates holding steady,” Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said in a statement on Thursday. She added that the figures indicate Bali remains a trusted and popular destination for international travelers. Government monitoring shows tourism activities in Bali are proceeding well, with hotel occupancy rates at healthy levels. Data collected by the ministry as of January 4, 2026, show that in Badung District—Bali’s main tourism hub—around 52 percent of hotels reported occupancy between 41 and 69 percent, while 36 percent reached 70 to 80 percent. In Gianyar District, 53.8 percent of hotels recorded occupancy between 41 and 69 percent, 23.1 percent were in the 70 to 80 percent range, and a small portion reached 81 to 100 percent. Wardhana noted that while occupancy rates vary, overall tourism activity continues to show stable performance. She emphasized that the government will keep coordinating with industry players and strengthen marketing strategies in key markets to sustain momentum. “The Ministry of Tourism is optimistic that with the attractiveness of our destinations, the quality of the tourism experience, and close cooperation between government and industry, Indonesia remains in a strong position as a preferred destination for global travelers,” she said.
