Compliance Checklist

- ›Verify if your buses, vessels, aircraft, or rail units are included in Kemenhub’s 2026 Eid inspection list and submit valid airworthiness/seaworthiness certificates to DGCA or DG Maritime by March 15, 2026
- ›Initiate mandatory repairs for non-compliant units (e.g., 10,148 rejected buses) and obtain re-inspection approval plus Sertifikat Laik Jalan by March 18, 2026
- ›Update BKPM foreign investment registration for all transport service contracts and upload technical compliance documents to the SIMANTAP system prior to passenger deployment
English Summary
Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation conducted pre-Eid al-Fitr 2026 ramp inspections on 32,760 public transport units nationwide — including buses (27,664 inspected, 17,516 cleared), sea vessels (832/840), ferries (220/254), aircraft (372/564), and rail units (3,672/3,687). Non-compliant units faced repair mandates, operating permit denials, or administrative sanctions. All operators must comply with Ministerial Regulation No. PM 77/2022 (roadworthiness) and Law No. 22/2009 (transport safety). Foreign transport service providers, aviation leasing firms, ferry charter operators, and tourism platforms serving Indonesian travelers must submit valid technical fitness certificates to DGCA or DG Maritime at least 72 hours before deployment. Failure may result in operational suspension during peak travel periods (March 16–18 and March 25–27, 2026).

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring travel safety ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming season by conducting ramp checks on 32,760 public transport units across various modes nationwide. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said he had instructed ministry officers to consistently carry out ramp checks in accordance with applicable procedures to ensure that only roadworthy vehicles serve travelers during the Eid homecoming period. “Such measures are essential to enhance safety and prevent accidents during the homecoming period,” he said in Jakarta on Friday night, March 6. Elaborating on the large-scale inspection policy, Purwagandhi reported that the ministry had conducted ramp checks on 27,664 buses since February 23. Of that number, 17,516 units were declared fit for operation, while the rest were required to undergo repairs, denied operating permits, or subjected to administrative sanctions. Regarding maritime transportation, the minister confirmed inspections on 832 of 840 registered sea vessels and 220 of 254 ferries targeted for checks. He also noted that the government had inspected 372 of 564 aircraft designated to serve homecoming travel. He then highlighted inspections of railway services, noting that ramp checks had been carried out on 3,672 railway units out of 3,687 scheduled for inspection. Purwagandhi also urged all public transportation operators to proactively maintain their fleets and ensure full compliance with safety standards before deployment. “All public transport operators must guarantee passenger safety and deliver optimal services. This is crucial to foster a sense of security and comfort among travelers,” he said. The Ministry of Transportation projected a 1.7 percent decline in homecoming travel this year, from 146.4 million travelers in 2025 to 143.9 million. President Prabowo Subianto has approved the ministry’s proposal for a work-from-anywhere (WFA) arrangement ahead of the peak travel period, expected between March 16 and 18, to help anticipate potential traffic congestion. The government also plans to implement the work-from-anywhere policy on March 25, 26, and 27 to ease congestion during the return travel period after Eid al-Fitr.
